Jenyns’s Works — Set of Four Volumes
7.5” tall
Published 1790
A handsome four-volume set of The Works of Soame Jenyns, printed in London in 1790. Soame Jenyns was an English essayist, poet, and social commentator best known for his moral and philosophical reflections during the 18th century.
The volumes include a collection of essays, poems, and prose writings addressing subjects such as human nature and morality, religion and ethics, social manners and behavior, and political and philosophical thought of Georgian England. Volume I contains an engraved portrait frontispiece, with the remaining volumes continuing the text.
Bound in richly patinated leather with gilt detailing and numbered spines, this set offers both literary interest and strong decorative presence—ideal for styling an English study, library shelf, or layered vignette.
Disclaimer: There is wear to the leather on the spines and foxing throughout, consistent with age. Please see photos for details.
